Alan Merriam Prize
|
The Alan Merriam Prize is awarded by the society for ethnomusicology for "the most distinguished, published English-language monograph in the field of ethnomusicology" The award is named after the ethnomusicologist Alan P. Merriam(1923 - 1980), who is remembered primarily for his book The Anthropology of Music, in which he promotes the study of music from an anthropological perspective and with anthropological methods.
